Vintage Galore.

Vintage outfit post

Hi all,

Yet again I've found myself gavitating towards my vintage pieces. I always love styling outfits around these kind of pieces because they make everything 10 times funner. The fluffy top is one of my mams oldies. I always find absolute gems in her wardrobe. Actually the retro jacket is from her closet too! It's like an 70s/80s dream. Everything from shoulder pads to bold colours to crop tops!
I thought the textures of this look worked really well together  the smoothness or the jacket coupled with the hairyness of the top I guess, it makes for an interesting combo. The jeans keep it somewhat interesting with the patchwork at the knees while the pointy boots stick with the overall polished theme. I also think this would look fab with a A-line denim skirt or a pair of brightly coloured structured trousers to give it a more definite 70s look!

What's your favourite fashion era?

#CharliXCX4Boohoo.

Hello again,

So my question for you today is what do you think of when you look back at the 90s era?
Well for me, I instantly think of the obvious 90s fashion staples like holographics, chunky shoes and chokers but I also look to the style icons of the time. The likes of Kate Moss,Johnny Depp, The spice girls, Nirvana, not to mention the ultimate 90s throwback of Saved by the bell, Friends, Sabrina the Teenage Witch..the list goes on. These guys were the epitome of the 90s and lets face it we all miss Friends from our daily lives!

It's from these icons that the fashion staples of the era were establish. Denim on denim, crop tops, dungarees, mini skirts, tops under dresses and leather jackets became the "it" pieces for your wardrobe. With that in mind Boohoo have collaborated with the
P
fabulous Charlotte otherwise known as Charli XCX on a 90s themed collection #CharliXCX4Boohoo
I honestly love when celebrities collaborate with online, affordable brands, it makes it so much more accessible for the rest of us to get our hands on some pieces! The collection is very much grunge meets girly, which I love and they've got some gorge pieces! From holographic pieces to animal prints to pops of colour! Just see for yourself here

So the lovely people at Boohoo let me pick out an outfit  I pretty much just tried to sum up all of the above. Grunge meets girly girl  meets sports luxe with colour, oversized pieces and mixed textures. This look would look perfect with some Doc Martens too but sadly I had none so I had to do without this time. That said, the jacket is the perfect size and is actually super warm while the skirt adds a nice amount of texture.

Thanks again to Faith and all of the Boohoo team for this opportunity!

1D style vibes?

Hiii,

So last sunday myself and Zara headed out to see 1D in the flesh. Yep, this is where I'm at- NO REGRETS...anyway we didn't do the whole "queuing up for 12 plus hours" malarky and still had a decent enough spot in the crowd.
Now first off, this was the first time I've ever been to a 1D gig, secondly they're real?!
I've probably been standing to more concerts than I've been sitting so with that in mind, I can definitely say that 1D fans are something else!
I was buzzing for each song considering I hadn't even heard Kiss You live let alone Drag Me Down or any of their current songs so I don't have many pictures because well, I was way too busy enjoying the actual show!

Aside from all that, the guys put on a pretty amazing show thanks to their own skill as well as the atmosphere and the crowd in general (no sadness over a certain someone being missing surprisingly..you may even be able to see a certain poster in these pictures that had someone hung to say about certain someone...) since I've only recently become obsessed with their music and their performances, I can honestly say that the fandom is one of the best parts about it all. During Little Things there was a fan project set up for each night, our night seen fans who were standing holding up signs reading "Go raibh maith agat" which is something I don't think is seen in any otheer fandom to be honest.

With all of this in mind I recreated the outfit I wore that night, because well with all the excitment I kind of forgot to take photos on the night. I planned on getting proper photos but the wheather appeared to think otherwise!  Anyhow, I basically wanted to try and channel their style a little bit but without much effort and without spending a fortune (we don't all have money for ysl, Harold) I did a post on taking style inspiration from Harry which you can catch here!
Now if my Adidas trainers still fitted me it all would have "wrked out" and I would have had a bit more of a Larry vibe (oi oiii) but sure I took the "chonce" anyway. So I've got a funky shirt thats pretty much wide open with some long chains and some pointed shoes for some Harry inspo.
All in all, I dare anyone to go to one of their gigs and not enjoy it..

What would you wear to a concert?

What I eat in a day #2 || hclf

Hello again, so I've been missing from around here lately mainly because college/uni is well under way and as per fresher I'm trying to get myself settled into a routine. Until I have this organised (which will hopefully be soon) posts may be varied around but sure look..

Meanwhile October has begun and I'm buzzing. I've always loved Halloween and all that comes with fall! Cosy knits, jumpers, scarves, candles, movie nights in...bussing. Now contrary to that these pictures make it look quite like summer again! Getting up mid morning for college means I've a lot more time to make food and get set for the day.

Lunch was just a series of snacks I guess. I had one lecture so I ended up pottering around the shops before heading home.

I obviously had more than one rice cracker, I'm not quite sure how many I had but I had 2 apples along side this too!

Dinner was rice, green beans and potato chips/cube things. All oil free and gluten free too! I seasoned it all with a load of spices and put soy sauce on the rice too!

Working It Out.

Aloha,

Sports Luxe is would seem- a trend thats really hit the fashion world in reason times, well as much as I do love a good pair of Nike workout leggings or the latest Adidas Stan Smith trainers (which will be mine) at the moment the only sports luxe I have going on is my workout gear.

Considering they're clothes that I'll be sweating in and all things ew, I feel there is no real need to go all out, buying more expensive workout clothes from the likes of Nike or Victoria's Secret and the likes. As much as I do love their workout collections my budget just doesn't agree, I'm afraid.

So what better place to go when looking for value for money clothes but Pennys/Primark, eh?! Apart from the trainers(obvs) everything here is Primark. I think a good pair of trainers is needed when doing exercise, so they are justified and Nike ones are always super comfortable.

What's your staple brand for workout clothes?

Instagram round up #1

Hola,

I though I'd include an Instagram  segment as a post for a change this week, just to mix things up. It's something I may include in the future we'll see how it goes sure.
Considering my Instagram, blog and just about anything social in my life is going to be dead for the next few weeks thanks to exam stress, (fun times) I guess now is the prime time to try this out, right?!

Black and White ft Cara Delevinge

The end of an era for sure. Graduation day is definitely a time that you think is in the far future but of course like everything, it's upon you before you know it. No longer will I have to sit through various classes, see the same people everyday, go through the routine of early mornings and so on. Obviously college life still involves deadlines, lecturers etc but it will be a huge change to say the least!

I opted for a simple enough dress with chunky black heels for this night time attire. Bit of a dodgy colour to wear on a night out but sure look...
Jewellery was kept minimal as I decided to keep it as a fresher, cleaner look with small details. This tux dress from Missguided was the perfect piece that wasn't too revealing but still kept it appropriate for a night out.
It was a bit of an inspired outfit from the forever gorgeous Cara Delevinge. Known for favouring more boyish silhouettes, It's no surprise this type of dress is becoming more popular. Helping us flatter chested ladies out a little more, eh?

I thought this fab Missguided piece made for a great 'celebrity inspired look' to this blue tux jacket Cara wore to London Fashion week from Emilio Pucci's fall 2014 collection. Of course they are by no means identical, hence why I say 'inspired' but it's no harm to look to celebrities for ideas every once in a while!

Who is your go-to celeb for outfit inspiration?

Gigs.

Vintage shirt// new look shoes

A step back from my better quality photographs but unfortunately on this occasion I had no choice. These pictures were taken at night with nothing but the spotlights I have in my room hence why they've taken a grunge type of style but I find the more you edit the worse they can look, so this is the best I could do!
More, better quality posts coming real soon guys!

Style Steal ft Taylor Swift

Right, first things first...( no Iggy reference intended..) whether you're a massive fan of Tay or not you can't deny that her style is always so on point. Normally I would never gravitate or even notice this kind of pretty, feminine style but with Taylors model figure and of course her staple red lip and gorgeous dewy skin, it's hard not to love it! What I love even more about these outfits is that they are so minimal, and easy to recreate. It's clear that Taylor knows how to look fab with minimal effort. There's no big fur coat or sky high heels. It's all casual outfits that any of us could rock  any day. She gets the balance between darks and brights in her wardrobe so right it leaves me feeling envious to say the least..
I see some 70s inspiration in these outfits too so everything about these outfits is just on point really. The suade skirt, chunky heels, polo neck...regardless of the label on these pieces I could easily see something similar in any highstreet store. In fact I did, with every item below from Asos it couldn't be easier to get!

Who's style are you digging at the moment?

Fluff.

In a complete different style to my more recent posts, here I have THE most comfortable heels in existence. I was originally planning to go completely bear with my feet and wear them "normally" but it was just so cold I couldn't face taking even these thin socks off! The trousers and top are both Topshop which I think work quite well together. The mix in textures with the roughness of the top and the silky feel of the trousers, they make for an interesting combo.

In an attempt to work with what I have and improve the quality of my photos, I think this worked out pretty well, if I do say so myself! It's an ongoing process that will take time but I'll eventually get there! It's one of my goals for 2015 to have better quality photo's as well as improve the overall standard around here. With such a saturated market it's getting harder and harder for new bloggers to get going. At the same time, I think it's important not to compare. Easier said than done but it's something I think a lot of people fall victim to. Everyone's blog has a different audience, style, genre, opinions! So my aim is to use what I have and make it work!

How are your goals for 2015 holding up so far?

That's so 70s.

Some 70s inspiration that I'm seeing everywhere at the moment and loving it! I will 100% be looking towards this style for summer hauls. From clashing patterns and prints, bell bottom trousers, loose fitting skirts, messy wavy hair to sheer foundation and simple makeup it's safe to say I'll be trying to incorporate as much of this into my wardrobe this season as possible!

As well as this, the Harry Styles style inspiration continues! Sounds confusing....just like my last post I'm still getting outfit inspiration from the man himself. Recently enough, we've seen Harold sporting headscarves alongside his "long hair, don't care" reign.
Not too sure whether I'll actually try this or not myself but we'll see if I can work it as well as Harry!

What do you think of this era in fashion?

Camel.

I had planned on an all black outfit post and in a sense that's what this is but with the weather being -50 gizillion degrees cold I had to opt for my trusty winter coat to pair with it. I picked this beauty up in a Charity shop in Dublin and it works wonders for those bitterly cold days! Under the coat I'm wearing a super comfy black polo, black skinnies and my favourite pair of  pointy shoes! More out posts are on the way!

P.S Merry Christmas!
